From Tampere, Finland, Marja Lehtonen is a personal trainer and IFBB pro bodybuilder who began at the age of 15 when she joined her first sports club and became a track and field athlete because her instructor advised her to get into sports. Marja found her true interest in weightlifting which was part of her track training.
Marja’s first competition was the National Championship at 1990 in Mexico City, where she took 2nd in the lightweight category and I was so happy to take part to World Championship in Mexico City 1990.
In 2000 Marja took 2nd in the middleweight at the European 2000 in Torremolinos, Spain where she earned her first silver medal and the opportunity to become a pro and make her dream come true!!!
For Marja the most rewarding year when her real dream came true was in 2004, when she qualified for Ms.Olympia where she placed 3rd in lightweight and among the top 3 . One of her greatest moments there was to see and meet Lenda Murray, who had been one of Marja’s inspiration since she first saw photos of women bodybuilders like, Cory Everson, Anja Langer and Juliette Bergman which reminded her of those early years before she started. The road has been long and hard from those days, but it has been worth all the hard work and sacrifice. Marja expresses her gratitude to her family and friends and fans all over the world, who have given her courage, motivation and support to be at her best.
